The 4-CEPs and 4-BEPs have provided about 48 years of passenger service on the Southern Region and are now all withdrawn from mainline service. YEARS 1956 - 2005 TIME IS UP FOR THE CEP'S!!! --- 1698 WAS THE LAST CEP TO RUN IN MAINLINE SERVICE! --- 1698 WORKED FOR THE LAST TIME AS PART OF THE 'SOUTHERN BELLE RAILTOUR' ON SATURDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2005 FROM RAMSGATE to WEYMOUTH AND BACK, THEN TO LONDON AND THEN BACK TO RAMSGATE WHERE IT WAS RETIRED FOR GOOD!! --- THE END OF AN ERA FOR THE CEP's!
